Steps for filing
To file for graduation Computer Science majors must
- Complete the form Graduation Application
- Complete the form Major/Minor Requirements Forms for the
computer science major, and get it signed
- Complete the form Major/Minor Requirements Forms for each
minor, and get it signed
- File both forms with Admissions and Records
The deadline for filing for graduation is usually shortly after the
beginning of the last semester of coursework. The specific date for
this deadline is listed in the current Schedule of Classes and it is
available on the
web.
You are encouraged to file early - during
the semester before your last one - so that you will learn of any
deficiencies in time to correct them.
The necessary forms are available either in the Computer Science
Department office or at Admissions and Records.
Graduation Application
On this form you list all courses that you have not completed, whether
they are for the major (or minor), for general education, or for
general elective units. This form does not require a faculty signature.
Major/Minor Requirements Forms
On this form you list every class that is a requirement for the
computer science major - both computer science classes and supporting
mathematics classes. Include courses that you have not yet completed
or not yet taken if they are required for the major. Computer science
majors will need two copiesof this form to hold all the requirements
for the degree. If you completed a requirement at another school you
must enter the information for the school and course you actually
took, not the corresponding course at Sonoma State. (When the registrar's
office reviews the form, it will check your transcript to verify
that you actually completed every course listed. Therefore you must
list the course as it appears on a transcript.) Basically this form
should contain the information shown on the advising report that
you can get from the Computer Science Department advisor.
The form must be signed first by the Computer Science Department
advisor and then by the Computer Science Department Chair. You may
need to leave the forms so that they can be reviewed and signed. You
need not make an appointment to do this. Leave the forms in the
Computer Science Department office and retrieve them a day or two
later.
Major Contract Addendum
If you file the graduation forms and subsequently take courses other
than the ones you listed on your forms, you must file a Major Contract
Addendum form with the changes. This form must be signed by the
Computer Science Department advisior and chair.
