Steps for filing

To file for graduation Computer Science majors must The deadline for filing for graduation is usually shortly after the beginning of the last semester of coursework. The specific date for this deadline is listed in the current Schedule of Classes and it is available on the web. You are encouraged to file early - during the semester before your last one - so that you will learn of any deficiencies in time to correct them.

The necessary forms are available either in the Computer Science Department office or at Admissions and Records.

Graduation Application

On this form you list all courses that you have not completed, whether they are for the major (or minor), for general education, or for general elective units. This form does not require a faculty signature.

Major/Minor Requirements Forms

On this form you list every class that is a requirement for the computer science major - both computer science classes and supporting mathematics classes. Include courses that you have not yet completed or not yet taken if they are required for the major. Computer science majors will need two copiesof this form to hold all the requirements for the degree. If you completed a requirement at another school you must enter the information for the school and course you actually took, not the corresponding course at Sonoma State. (When the registrar's office reviews the form, it will check your transcript to verify that you actually completed every course listed. Therefore you must list the course as it appears on a transcript.) Basically this form should contain the information shown on the advising report that you can get from the Computer Science Department advisor.

The form must be signed first by the Computer Science Department advisor and then by the Computer Science Department Chair. You may need to leave the forms so that they can be reviewed and signed. You need not make an appointment to do this. Leave the forms in the Computer Science Department office and retrieve them a day or two later.

Major Contract Addendum

If you file the graduation forms and subsequently take courses other than the ones you listed on your forms, you must file a Major Contract Addendum form with the changes. This form must be signed by the Computer Science Department advisior and chair.
