Cisco 2900
This is a 24 port switch.
Although the console port can be connected directly to the serial port of a computer using only a rolled cable, successful connection to a port on a Xyplex MAXserver 1600 terminal server requires an adapter cable. This is a short cable connected between the console port of the 2900 and the rolled cable. It has a male RJ45 on one end and a female RJ45 on the other, and is wired as a T568A straight through cable except that pins 1 and 8 (green/white and brown) have been swapped in the female connector.
The startup configuration for the Cisco 2900s was chosen so that the switches would not send any packets when first powered on. This required disabling spanning tree (STP packets) and Cisco discovery protocol (CDP) and configuring the switch not to use DHCP to determine an IP address for VLAN 1.
